Make Great Strides in Reaching the Commercial Vehicle Market

Off-highway engineers continue to make great strides in continuing to make cleaner engines via technological solutions such as advanced combustion, aftertreatment systems, and hybridization.

An outgrowth of the decades long focus on powertrain, however, has been the identified need to become more than engine-centric, as the entire vehicle needs to be optimized as a system to meet future emissions and performance requirements.

The industry will continue to see increased electronic content on off-highway vehicles as increased autonomy and diagnostic/prognostic capabilities via telematics become more than just a luxury, but a necessity for operator productivity. Regulations, of course, are not going away either, as engineers around the globe will be increasingly tasked to address and mitigate both greenhouse gases and noise, particularly in urban environments.
